Save fuel and eliminate pollution

Back in 2013, I had an opportunity to acquire a license to resell and distribute a product in Lebanon. At first, I was hesitant as I just fled from Bahrain due to the 2011 events that took place. I landed in Lebanon, my home country. I had no experience about how to deal with the lebanese market or the lebanese people, and to be honest, I was a little worried because of all the negative feedbacks I heard from friends and relatives. They all thought that the lebanese market was a risky playground; and to succeed, one needs strong connections and political affiliations. There were lots of internal conflicts in the country, mainly political and religious, and the situation was unstable. The economy was directly affected by every political change that occured, and it seemed like everyone was fighting hard to survive, except for a minority which makes for the rich high class. Nonetheless, I was so excited to challenge myself and try to succeed. After receiving all documentations reg...

Under the Cedar Tree

The recent political and social transgressions that have taken place within the Kingdom of Bahrain, paved the way for my immigration back to my home country of Lebanon. This hectic and life changing time led me to an inner journey as well as a physical one. It has pushed me to make serious decisions within my life. In these challenging financial times, the option to take advantage of a situation in Bahrain, which is considered by many, would be easy, but I was not able to do so. I could not perform my work duties without somehow getting involved. I would not become that which I have always fought against. I would not lose my humanity. Returning to my homeland after 12 years has provided many trials and tribulations that I have had to overcome. Despite this, I have decided to stay and embrace the change I see as well as the traditions that have warmed my heart since I was a boy. I feel that settling back here with my family is the right option and living in this ...

Bahrain - An Island in the Middle

The world has been shaken over the last couple of months, for some countries, to their very cores. Movements that have swept through the predominantly Arabic regions of the globe have demanded change and shown that there are voices that will no longer be silenced and circumstances that need to be addressed if we are to continue the universal goals of peace and prosperity. If these occurrences have shown anything, it has shown that neither governments nor armies can stop an idea when its time has come. The Tunisian people were the first to display this, followed closely by Egypt. There were soon shadowed by Libya, Yemen, Sudan, Morocco, Algeria, Jordan and others. The plight has even reached as far south as Zimbabwe, where the government arrested dozens of people as they were attending a meeting on how to start large-scale protests within the country against Robert Mugabe and his corrupt government. As I have been monitoring this developing situation, I have also been quie...

The New Business Watchdog

The World has changed. As I sit at home, laptop open, I watch the world’s happenings fly by in front of my eyes. No longer do we experience delays in the obtaining of information, or the analysis of that information by the masses. The World has shrunk through the growth of technology and innovation and with this; both opportunities and problems arise, depending on where you sit. The internet is a multi - billion dollar cash machine which major corporations and small self sustained businesses alike utilize in an attempt to expand their institutions. However, what many of these establishments fail to realise are the heightened intelligence levels, significant expectations and demands of the online public. Social Networks are now the dominating force not only on the internet, but in the average person’s life in current times. One has only to think of examples such as Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Etc to accept this statement as fact. These networks, or more specifically their users, sc...

Incorrect Personnel

Before I reveal the purpose behind this article, I would like to ask some questions that may create a better understanding for you on where I am coming from.   Are Business owners in Bahrain recruiting the right caliber of staff to drive and/or represent their companies?   Do they understand the process of recruiting these appropriate people?   After 9 years experience in the Bahraini Market, I have witnessed so many elements that have contributed towards the failure of the business sector up until this point. The number one however has been incorrect employment procedures and agreements.   This includes the heavy weight players in the market who have made the critical error of appointing the wrong personnel. This in turn has contributed greatly to the market veering in a negative direction. A direction that no one is willing to take responsibility for or to help in the rebuilding process, as admittance to this could be seen as damaging to their reputations and ...
